In this class, we presented final presentation. In short, the point we should be careful is below.

-when we make slides, it should not use too many words. Make important point visual rather than writing.

-when we speak introduction, we should include member's name, why the members chose that topic and presented it, how long does the members take to make this presentation, and whole information should be aimed at getting listener's attention, and making them understand why they should listen to the presenters.

-about team work, they should manage the fluency of the presenting, help other members if they cannot speak accurately because of nervous, forgetting what they intend to say, etc.

In this class, Rab did not come because he went to London, and Tina came to our class.
We made the presentation group at first, and discussed about presentation based on the paper Tiina gave us.

24th.Oct

In this class, Rab told us how to write the conclusion goodly. We should write the simple sentences to summarize the supporting idea. After that, he explained we can use photos in our essay as a source. Photo can explain something clearly, and obviously. Fro finding these photos, he old how to use google image and awesome screenshot and flicker.The three items can find nice photos to use, which is over 800•600 pixel.
By finding some photos to use in our own essay, we can memorized how to use these pages. Also, I have never thought I can use photos as a resource, so to know we can use photo in our essay widen my essay's content.

22nd.Oct

In this class, we did phycological test. We wrote favorite color, animals, and the kind of water, and the reason we like it. After that, Rab explained the reason of the color describes myself, the reason of the animal shows the Best Partner for themselves, the reason of the water indicate what we want about sex&love. Rab concluded what a people write about sometimes shows another fact like this phycological test.
Then, we discuss about whether the thesis statement of our own topic is same as what we really want to say.
After that, we discuss about "How much can we judge the action/happening based on today's standards?""How can we get double standards to write an essay from the neutral?".
By doing these activity in the class, I could recognize which position do I stand in my 2nd essay.Also, by discussing it with other classmate, I could widen my view point of the essay topic.
One thing I felt difficult was the connection between phycological test and the later discussion. I could understand the relationship between two, however, it took a little time for me to understand it.

In this class, we learned how to use Evernote. It is really useful to save some articles or photos on the Internet. After that, we studied to use both Zotero and Evernote effectively by connecting these functions.
By taking the class, researching about the essay topic became much easier than I did before.

In this class, we learned about essay's structure. Rab said we should not decide the thesis statement before researching about the topic, because it will be complicated if the factor of supporting the topic is weaker than the opposite side's opinion.
One thing I felt sorry for Rab was that he could not do what he wanted to in the class because half of the classmates(including me...) didn't watch the video.I won't make same mistake next time.
Also, I reminded my first essay's process and thought that I already decide the thesis statement before researching about the topic...So I thought I should improve this point for the next essay.

In this class, we watched the video about the the negative image toward Arab made by Hollywood movie. The video explains the cause of the negative image of Arab was the relationships between Washington(politics) and Hollywood(entertainment). The two are strongly connected and influenced each other, so the Arab's image was terrible for the political reason.
My first reaction was rather sad, than shocked because I have several friends who is Arab and live in Palestine. They all don't like that kinds of person, also, I reminded one of them said "When I wear the headdress, I was seen as a terrorist" as a black joke...
Both video and the memory made me sad, and I wondered how can people see other people without being influenced by media.I think the solution toward the question is to see these place/people with their own eyes.Or if it's impossible, people should notice that all media(except the internet...sometimes...)has some bias, and people should judge the media's content objectively.

10th.Oct

In this class, Rab told us about the next essay. We can choose topics freely, however, it's better to choose the topic of race because we will make a presentation about race.
After the explanation, we thought about Gould by doing some activities.
We got papers which has some picture of people all over the world. First, we try to distinguish these people based on the group of African, Mongolian, Malaysian, European, and Native American.However, it's difficult to grouping them. Then, we try to distinguish these people based on our own way of grouping, but it was not enable to do it, also.
The conclusion is, it is difficult to distinguish people based on race because there are some people whose father and mother have a different nationality.
The good point of the class was to do the activity to understand the difficulty to separate people based on race. By doing it, we could understand it effectively.

In this class, we did some activity to understand the bias of media. First, Rab talked us about his bag which bring to ICU. Second, we made a paragraph about his bag from the completely positive aspect, and completely negative aspect. Third, we share the paragraph with the other paragraph written from the opposite side.Then, we noticed the difference of the factor we included in the paragraph.And it enable for us to see the bias obviously.
After that activity, we watched the screen and learned about the picture used in the many kinds of the British newspapers. The picture and the real scene is not same, because the picture cut the police man which stays around the journalists quietly, the windows are too broken, the fire is not natural, and the picture does not show the person's face. That is, the picture does not show the real demonstration's scene, but being made by artificially.
I thought the good point of the class was to do the activity by using our hands.By doing that activity, we can understand the editor's feeling at hand.

3rd.Oct

In this class, we learned about google forms, which is enable to make a statistics in the class.After that, we made Rab angry because we don't do essay on time, some classmates don't write essay with google docs...so sorry about it.And then, he changed the content of the class to talk about Birk, and he showed us some graphs about the amount of terrorism both Irsael and Palestine, and the amount picked out in the news program about the terrorism. By comparing these graphs,we could find it is obvious that the terrorism took in the program with censorship from government. In addition, he showed one of the news program which explains Israeli solider TOOK OUT the Palestinian, and Palestinian solider KIDNAPPED the Israeli citizens.
By changing the word in the explanation, the editor tried to emphasis the negative image toward Palestinian.
I thought the good point of the class was to use real situation to explain the Birk's content. We could see how important to understand the Birk clearly by that way of teaching, and it leads increasing my motivation to read Birk.

1st.Oct

In this class, Rab told about what point should we notice in the CWT. He said...
-Don't miss reading the question sentences. Answer to the question accurately.
-Fill the most space of the answer sheet, writing just less than half of the blank does not be treated as answered the question.
-Check the basis of getting point, both understanding the content and writing ability is necessary.
- Students can only bring the situation paper, which is colored.Taking memo in the paper is also ok, but not writing whole essay in advance.

Then, we tried practice of the CWT in the class. After this, we should review it with the document Rab shared by google groups.

This class was simple explanation and just testing, however, it showed the main point clearly.In that point, I thought it was worthy.
Also, documents Rab shared was useful to review the content of Barna, Fisher, and Birk. I thought it was really useful to review the important points of the textbook.

In this class, we used zotero and got more detail information about it.
After that, Rab told how to write essay's process in the document he made. And we shared our own documents with other team members.
Then, we considered about fisher's content by using stereograms.

24th.Sep

In this class, we learned formal writing for the academic essays. Rab wrote several sentences on blackboard, and we tried to find mistakes in the sentences. By that activity, we could learn...
- do not use "don't " or "couldn't "
- do not start sentences with the word and,but,because, and other kinds of connection words.
-do not use "etc" or "and so on"
-do not use idiom
-do not use personal expressions such as I think, my, and others .
-do not start the sentence with the same word of the last sentence's first word.
-do spell check.

Also, we learned how to use quotes, and reference of it. Quote should be less than 20% of the whole essay.

Regarding as style, the length between sentences should be 1.5-2.0. Formal style should same length of both sides.

By this lecture, I could not only learn about it but also practice again and again to check whether the sentences in academic writing is correct or not.
In that point, I thought the class is effective.

In this class, we learned about how to write essay. Rab told 5A's to explain choosing appropriate topic for academic essay. We should choose topics which is academic, attractive, argumentative, have an access to search information, and achievable one.Also, he told Rules of 3 to explain what structure should be done in academic essays. We should write introduction,3 bodies, and conclusion. In introduction, the important point is three things. That is, get attention, enough background, and thesis statement. Thesis statement has also 3 important things, topic ,claim, and 3 reasons(=supporting ideas). Mentioned in body, we should write each supporting idea with 3 evidences. Regarding as conclusion, it should include summary, conclusion , and suggestion. Also, he told us about title, too. It needs two parts, title and sub title. Title should include some humor, and the sub title should include more explanation and show the position.

I thought good point of the class was that Rab's lecture itself includes a lot of technics which can use in writing essay, too. He get attention by saying Whoa!!!! in class, said several jokes not to make students boring.

In this class, we shared our blogger's address on google groups. Then, we learned about google reader. It can save a lot of URL, make folders, and check whether there is any new article easily. Also, it is useful to search some articles which includes specific words.
I thought the good point of the class was to use a screen to explain how to use google reader. Even though I knew there is a google reader in that class, I could get used to it soon because of it.
One thing I thought it needs more improvement was that some people could not do it as same speed as other classmate. I could do it with other classmate, however, I felt Rab's teaching speed was little fast, too.

In this class, we took a topic of Barna, for the first time. We searched about 3B, Background,Biography,and Bias.And then, we discussed about the content of Barna. More concretely to say, we think about the examples of Assumption of Similarities, Language Differences, Nonverbal Misinterpretations.
I thought the good point of this way of class is to be enable to understand text more deeply. In addition, to think examples is worthy in that we can feel the text at hand. Also, this work can leads developing student's ability of exploiting text's contents in their own daily life.

17th.Sep

In this class, we discussed about high anxiety through Rab's example. He told us "Your essay was so bad.3A is the worst class for this 5years I'm teaching in here" Then, we thought what is our impression toward his way of teaching. Most of opinions are negative one. Then, he told us it was joke and he was not angry. Even he showed "I am joking" by winking several times, nobody didn't notice the fact.
The explanation is really simple and appropriate to tell what the high anxiety is. By using the example which is familiar with our life, the explanation became easy to understand.
